Is A Vegan Diet Healthy?

Comment are off

Lately more and more evidence indicates to the mainstream world that there are substantial reasons and benefits to shifting diets to more plant based. Many people are switching over to a plant based lifestyle and vegan diet as result. Some people make a dietary change for health reasons.

This may be one of the benefits of eating plant based. But the question is: Is a Vegan Diet Healthy? And the answer is : sometimes yes and sometimes not even close!

Vegan does not mean healthy. Vegan, if anything, means more conscious. It is a decision to not interfere with or injure or kill other beings on this planet. But vegan does not signify that the diet is healthy. Many foods in fact are vegan but certainly not good for human health. The list can be quite long of foods that are vegan and destructive to health.

French fries, potato chips, coca cola, coffee are all vegan… and all not good for us!

In order for a vegan diet to be healthy it must incorporate a lot of raw foods, especially fruit. A healthy vegan diet will be based on fruits and salads with avocado… and will minimize many of the vegan foods that are not healthful.

I personally eat many of the foods that I am criticising… for example I have an historical weakness for vegan chocolate chip cookies… but that does not make them good for me. However it is very important to always enjoy what you are eating…even if it is not healthy… as long as you are going to eat it… ENJOY it!!!

More fruit equals more health! That is a good equation to know and live by! And even for people who have not yet gone 100% plant based that is still a very good guideline!
